You know what's fun about having kids - making them do crazy things because they don't know any better. Chris decided to have Nick try dizzy bat just for fun. Check out the video!
My sleeping beauty.
I'm so excited Cara is starting to smile at me. She usually does it right after she eats. She's beginning to make cooing sounds too. I just want to eat her up.
Chris went out of town this past weekend, so it was just me and the kiddies. We pulled out the old bubble maker which was loads of fun until they dumped it all over my carpet. That was the end of the bubbles.
I did put extra suds in their bath that night though. As you can see, Harris LOVES bubbles!
Cara - 6 weeks old
Celebrating her first St. Patrick's Day (thanks for the outfit Zach & Amanda)
My babies - Nick 3 1/2, Cara 6 weeks, and Harris 18 months.
Chris and I celebrated five years of marriage on March 13, 2009. It's hard to believe we've been together that long! Our grandmothers graduated from Cherryville High School together in 1938. Chris and I attended the same elementary, middle and high school (I was two years ahead). According to our moms, Chris even tried to drown me a few times in the local swimming pool. Chris and my brother were friends and golfing buddies in high school and continued being friends when Chris went to work for my dad after college. Because of their friendship as well as the one we'd begun, we weren't sure if we wanted to begin dating. That all changed when my grandmother passed away in December 2002. I was getting ready to change jobs, and my brother wouldn't help me move my things out of my old school. Chris volunteered to help. I have a lot of stuff (crap) as a teacher, so I took him to lunch as a thank you. We also had dinner that night. For the next two months, he would just show up at my house to take me bowling, to dinner, or to the movies. He says he stalked me until he wore me down. Realizing that we could make it work, we began dating in February 2003, and got engaged on July 7, 2003. Eight months later, we were married. Now it's been five years and we are blessed with a wonderful life and three beautiful children.
Nick is usually my child that is always doing something video or camera worthy. This week though, it was Harris. Harris LOVES spaghetti. I mean he really LOVES him some noodles! He doesn't just eat it, he attempts to shove as much as possible at in his mouth at one time.
Here he is shoving fist fulls of spaghetti. If you listen closely, you can hear the slurping noises.
Cara took her first out of town trip on Thursday. We went to Gaffney, SC to do a little shopping with Big Mama.
Posing on a Friday night looking mighty cute in her jeans.
Abby was feeling a little left out, so she got on the floor to snuggle with Cara.
Tummy time!!!
She really loves looking around, so we pulled out Harris old play gym. She'll spend 20 minutes just looking at the animals. Sometimes she'll even hit them.
Harris seems to be adjusting well to his little sis; he likes to help Mommy feed her.
We kept Lauren while Lis taught on Saturday. Lauren absolutely loves Cara. She walks around saying "baby". She helped us give her a bath.
Our Saturday was packed full of parties. First Nick went to a pirate party at Foothills Gymnastics for his friend Chase.
Nick got to swing on the rope into a huge foam pit.
Look at him go!
And here I am. I can't believe I let them talk me into this. What you don't see is me trying to climb OUT of the pit. It took me forever. I think it's time to start exercising again.
After Foothills, we headed to the Science Center for Zach's 4th birthday party. Nick got to learn a lot about animals. He even got to touch a few. (Kristi, there are some snake pictures)
Bearded Dragon (lizard)
Turtle
Nibblet the Corn Snake
Nick even made a really cool Lion mask
My best friend Amanda is having a baby girl (Hannah Grace) in two and a half weeks (or sooner). Here we are at her baby shower. Anna (sister in law), Amanda, and Rebekah (sister).
Cara with her Nana Jane
We're hoping this week is a little calmer. On a positive note, Cara started sleeping consistently through the night last week. She's going down between 10:00 - 10:30 pm and sleeping till 6:30 am. How lucky am I? She'll be 5 weeks old on Monday. I couldn't ask for a better baby.
Some of our favorite people came to visit on Saturday - Chris's cousins Mark and Jennifer from Raleigh. They have three girls. Nick LOVES hanging out with them.
Harris just did his own thing while the big kids played upstairs.

Cara was tired out after all the fun. Cara is officially one month old today! I can't believe she's been in our lives for four whole weeks. She wakes up for a few hours at time now and looks around. She seems to enjoy looking at the fish in her bouncer.
Today we bundled her up and took her outside to enjoy her first snow. She didn't seem to care too much. Next year though...
Two little boys were very excited about the snow.
Harris was so small last year when it snowed that he wasn't sure what to think. He fell down a lot and tried to crawl through it. He did not enjoy that at all!
Since daycare was closed for the day, my wonderful husband took the day off to take the boys sledding.
Unfortunately, our yard is not very good for sledding. Chris, being the brilliant man that he is, decided to hook the sled behind the tractor and pull us up and down the road. No, we aren't necky or anything!
