Apple Festival & Shannon's Wedding 10-16-10

The weekend of Oct. 16, Chris and I headed to Wilmington for our friend Shannon's wedding, and our children were split up with Lisa & Paul, Carrie & Devin, and Chris's parents.  They all met for the Apple Festival so the kids could spend some time together.

Everyone thought Cara & Chatham were Carrie's twins.

Looks like Nick enjoyed spending time with Nana.

So, while the kids were checking out the festival, Chris and I explored a museum and watch Shannon get married on the beach with the ocean waves crashing in the background.  It was a wonderful weeked for Chris and I to spend together.

Since we were "kid free" we visited Bellamy Mansion.  The house was built in the mid 1800s right before the Civil War. During the war, the mansion was occupied by Union soldiers.

Next we headed to the Cape Fear Museum.  I thought this was hysterical!
Chris and I got to "play" in the science part of the museum with the oobleck.  It was the COOLEST!  I went back to South and made it with my kids.
Is it a solid or a liquid?  Or BOTH?
Finally, it was wedding time.  We clean up pretty good.

Hood Farm 10-10-10

First United Methodist holds an annual Fall Festival at Hood Farm.  Our friends the Donley's who have recently become members of our church joined us for the festivities.

Chatham & Cara LOVED the bounce house.
 Chatham chillin' before dinner.
 Cara doing the same.
I'm not really sure if Chatham got any corn in his mouth.
I know, we look like dorks in our matching shirts.

I got two out of three for a picture with Mommy - that's pretty good.

Red Wolf Farm 10-9-10

Harrison's class at Abernethy went on a field trip to Red Wolf Farm in Maiden two weekends ago.  We had never been there so we didn't know what to expect.  It was WONDERFUL!  There were lots of things for the kids to do, and we all took home a pumpkin.

Cara was more interested in the hay rather than having her picture taken.
She did beg to go on the BIG tractor

 Exploring the Corn Maze

Nick loved making his way through the maze.  He showed Cara how to find the corn in there.
 She's found it!
The highlight of the trip (in my opinion) was the giant vats of dried corn that the kiddos could play in - the adults too.

 Harris exploring the tunnel
 Paul too!
Looks like Paul found a pair - of pumpkins that is

Visit with Thomas and Sandy 10-2-10

Some of our favorite family members came into town for a very quick visit a few Saturdays ago.  Sandy played the piano with Nick, we went on a boat ride, and swung on the swing and the hammock.  FUN!
