NC Zoo part 1 - North America

Harris is 44 weeks old now. I can't believe it. I went to check on him before I went to bed the other night and found him all sprawled out. His belly button still looks gross, but it's because he's crawling and climbing on everything.

Here he is eating his brother's blanket.

Nick's super duper Lego tower.
We went to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro Friday. This was our second attempt. Our first trip was cancelled when a water main broke, and the zoo was closed down. We made it all the way through North America before we had to leave.
Nick is ready to see some animals.

Mom, check me out. I'm sitting on a Bison head
Ooh, turtle
Ocelot
And some Baskin Robbins icecream on the trip home.

We had a great time exploring the zoo. I had a little scare while we were there when I started spotting, and we had to go home. We had another ultrasound, and the baby is fine. Heartrate is 164 bpm. Apparently, my placenta is rubbing against the blood vessels on my cervex and causing the spotting. It's not too much of a concern because the doctor knows why. However, I'm on bed rest until it stops. As my uterus grows and expands the problem should correct itself. Fortunately, little one is hanging tough and hopefully everything will stop in day or so.

35 months / 10 months / 12 Week Appointment

We celebrated a lot of "birthdays" this week. Nick turned 35 months old on Friday. He's one month away from being THREE! I can't believe how the time has flown by. Check out studly in his Diego undies.

Harris turned 10 months old on Saturday.

He's been trying to push his walker around, but he had a little accident.

Here are Harris and Annie the day before their 10 month birthdays.

I had my 12 week baby appointment today. The doctor scheduled an ultrasound to check the small pocket of blood that was found near my amniotic sac at my 8 week check up. The pocket has disappeared completely which is fantastic news. Baby seems to be growing well and is a little bigger than my February 2 due date. I guess I better plan on another nine pounder. Arms and legs are developing as you can see in the pictures. The baby even looked like it was sucking it's thumb. Maybe it'll be like Harrison. I was bragging about how calm this baby seemed in comparison to my boys. I guess little one didn't want to be left out so it started doing flips and turns for the rest of the visit. The heartrate today was 167 bpm. I even got to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. It was very cool. Even though I've been through this twice before, I'm still so excited with each visit to find out about baby's progress and development.

Okay, so everyone has been weighing in about what our baby's gender will be. It's still going to be another 8 weeks (mid September) before we find out. In the mean time, I've added a poll to our blog so you can vote on whether you think we're having a boy or a girl. Have fun, and we'll see how many of you are right. Remember, it's what you think, not just wishful thinking.

Nick's First Trip to the Dentist

I can't believe my first baby is old enough to go to the dentist. I think I was more nervous than he was. You never know what you're going to get with him, but Nick did awesome. I'm so proud of my big boy!

Okay, put on your bib

Lie down
Open wide so I can clean your teeth

Let's spray some water. We're almost finished!
Harris got a new float. Nick wanted to try it out first before his brother got in the water just to make sure it was safe.

Playdates and Pool Party

We've had lots of fun with our friends this week. Harris's birthday buddy Annie came to play on Wednesday. What a change it is to see them crawling and climbing all over each other instead of either just lying or sitting there. It's hard to believe they'll be 10 months old next week.

Nick had another pool party for his friend Camden who turned 4 on Thursday. It was his first time on a big pool slide. Of course that didn't even slow him down. It did make my heart stop for a second though.

Saturday, we headed to SC to visit some college friends of mine, Holly and Dan. They have a little boy, Cody, who's a year younger than Nick. The boys had a great time swimming in the pool.

Okay, it's starting. Harris is beginning to walk. He's pushing his toy around here. He does really well until it goes faster then he does and it takes him down. It won't be long though...

Happy 4th / Milestones

We've had a busy week! Here's Nick, aka, Indian Jones, wearing his daddy's welding glasses.
On the 4th, we took a boat ride then watched the fireworks from the middle of the lake later in the evening.
Harris has had quite a week. He learned how to climb up the stairs at Big Mama's house on the 4th. He did not grasp the climbing down concept. Check out his fat lip where he fell face first on the floor.
And, Harris can pull himself up! We're in trouble. On Saturday, he crawled over to the couch and just pulled up to his feet then took a few steps. He's also slowing cruising his way along the furniture now. It won't be long until we have another walker / runner on our hands. He's also beginning to give up his bottle. Starting on Monday, we're going bottle-free and just using sippy cups. I told Chris it was a good thing we had another little one on the way or all of Harrison's big boy accomplishments would make me cry because my other baby was growing up too fast.
Check him out!

Sunday brought Nick and Harris's cousins from Cary. They had a great time swimming and playing in the fountain. Here is Nick with his cousin Casidy.
