Poor Nick / Baby Shower / Week 32

Poor Nick! It turns out he has some type of allergic reaction to bug bites. Two weeks ago, he got bitten on the face and his eye swelled up. The doctor said to give him some Benedryl and he'd be fine. Well, it happened again on Tuesday at school. This time the swelling was a little worse (as you can see). We were prescribed two medications to help, but Nick REFUSED to take either of them and would spit them out. After another doctor's visit and a shot in his leg, the swelling has finally gone down.

By Saturday he was good to go and apparently doesn't need any water to float.

My awesome friend Amanda and her mom gave Harris a baby shower on Saturday. Several of my college friends I hadn't seen in forever got a chance to come into town. It's amazing how much our lives have changed in the past 10 years. Instead of deciding where our next frat party would be, we talked about our kids. Who would have guessed...

Here are Darah and Cody, both 9 months.

And their moms, Holly and Amy.

My friend Lisa, whose daughter Lauren, is due in 2 weeks or anytime after 2:30 pm on August 1 when she finishes her last graduate class. With us is Ashley, whom I've known since kindergarten.

Susan and Amanda (thank you for the wonderful party!!!)

Big Mama

We can't wait for Harris's arrival in another 8 weeks!

Week 32:
I had another doctor's appointment this week. Even after being on the nasty iron pills for a month, my iron continues dropping. I guess it's time to break out the red meat and leafy greens. Weight gain is steady and blood pressure is good. Harris is continuing to develop fat deposits under his skin which is now turning pink. He's about 4 lbs and 17 inches long.

4D Sonogram / Week 31

Chris and I went Friday to have an elective 4D sonogram on Harris. It was absolutely amazing. We got to see his plump little cheeks and sweet face. He has chicken legs just like his Daddy. Here are a few pictures. He's lying with his face next to the umbilical cord. We showed the pictures to Nick and told his this was his baby brother. He pointed out Harris's nose for us. It will be neat to see his reaction to a real live baby in another 2 months.

Hand and Foot

Week 31-
Harris is about 4 pounds and 17 inches long. His lungs are nearly mature, and his irises can now dilate and contract in response to light. He actually opened his eyes for us during the sonogram.

Pool Party / My Adventure with Big Dan & Big Mama / Week 30

My friend Camden turned 3 this week. We had a super pool party at the Hickory YMCA. I loved going down the slide.

Whoops!

I'm a really lucky kid. My Big Dan and Big Mama took me to Tweetsie AGAIN with Mommy and Daddy. What an adventure we had riding the train, horsies, being in jail, and hanging out in a tee pee. I can't wait to go another time!!!

Woo Hoo, I'm going to ride the train!!!

I'm a little nervous about the loud noises that huge train makes, so I'm going to hold on tight to my Big Dan.

Everything is okay now.

Hey, does this mean I can call you guys if I ever get arrested?

Week 30 -
Nick has taken to shaking his finger at my stomach and saying, "Baby Harris, stop kicking Mommy!" He listens better to Nick than he does to Chris. I can just see big brother leading little brother down the wrong path in the future.

Harris weighs about 3 - 3 1/2 lbs now and is about 17 inches long according to my book. I had a doctor's appointment this past Thursday. Everything is going well. No gestational diabetes for me. Harris is lying completely sideways in my stomach which the doctor said is the most uncomfortable position for a pregnant person. That would explain all the sharp jabs I've been getting from him on my right side for the past few weeks. He'll turn into the head down position when he's ready. I should have known this Cadwallader boy was going to be a handful like his brother.

Big Pool / July 4 / Week 29

Nick finally got the all clear from Dr. Locke on his belly button. To celebrate, we got in the BIG pool. He isn't afraid of anything. He jumped off the side of the pool and off the diving board. Woo Hoo!!

Check out his diving skills!

Our little Adonis

July 4th was so much fun. ALL my family came to the lake to celebrate. I got to hang out with my cousin Casidy. She's kinda fun.

Week 29-
Harris is almost 17 inches long and about 3 pounds. He will double or triple his weight in the next 12 weeks (I'm sure he'll triple his weight if he's like his big brother). His skin is smoothing out, and he's putting on fat.

Pool Deck / Fun with Daddy / Boating / Week 28

Chris and I pick a house project every summer. This year, we decided to put cool decking around the pool. It will help keep our feet from getting burned and provide friction for when little ones run (but aren't suppose to).

While in his playroom earlier this week, Nick discovered two things: 1) Harris's new duck bathtub makes an awesome toy to ride on with Mommy and 2) Who needs a slide outside when you have a Daddy.

Nick has decided he wants to try to start potty training. His favorite place to go is in the grass. The other day while playing outside, he decided it was time. I love that he kept on his Converse shoes. Oh my, won't I have some awesome blackmail pictures for his future girlfriends.

We went out to the lake on Saturday for some boating. Nick has become our new official driver.

"But Big Mama, I can see better if I climb on TOP of the seats and stand up."

Week 28 -
I had my 28 week checkup Thursday. I've only gained 5 pounds this past month so I didn't the the red pen. Woo Hoo. I was a little worried I'd packed it on with school being out and it being too hot outside to get a lot of exercise. I took my diabetes test, but I won't find out anything for a few days. Blood pressure was great - 104/60, but my iron test didn't turn out as well. Like with Nick, I've developed anemia. You're suppose to score at least 12, and I only scored 10.4. They put me on iron pills, and I have to increase my red meat intake. Harris's heartbeat is good and belly measurements are completely average. My doctor is going to wait till I'm about 36 weeks along before comparing Harris's measurements with Nick's to predict birthweight.

Harris is still about 2 1/2 - 3 lbs and a little over 15 inches long. He can blink his eyes and is growing eyelashes.
