Tweetsie... one last time for 2010

We LOVE going to Tweetsie (can you tell?).  This time though Devin tagged along for his FIRST TIME EVER!  I know, really?  It started out as a great trip, but it could have ended in disaster.  Cara was riding the airplanes and copters with Harris and Chatham.  She was on the end.  As the ride continued, she got smushed closer and closer to the edge.  The next thing I see is her falling out and hitting the ground.  As a mom, I was in shock.  What did I do?  I remember saying some choice words, and Carrie running to her since she was closer.  Bless the sweet guy working the ride, he had it shut down within a second of her hitting the pavement.  Luckily, another mom whose kids were riding was a Nurse Practioner and checked Cara out before the medics arrived.  God was certainly watching us that day because Cara didn't have a single scratch on her.  It scared the shit out of her (and me too), but she was all bundled up because it was cold and I guess it protected her from any harm.  I have to say that the people at Tweetsie did an outstanding job of making sure my daughter was okay and thoroughly checking every inch of her out.  We did manage to enjoy the rest of our day, but I don't think my children will be riding that particular ride any time in the near future.

My sweet girl.  See how bundled she is!
 All Aboard!
 Devo the DORK!
 How cute are they?!
 Giddup!
Good thing that wagon isn't going anywhere.
Even the moms got to ride the horsie.
Looking back at the pictures, I can see why she fell out.
Someone was excited to ride on the Mouse Train.

Pumpkin Carving

Chris and I don't carve pumpkins.  We always GET them.  We always SAY we're going to carve them, but we never do.  This year was different.  We actually carved them.  Of course, they'll probably STILL be sitting on our front porch in February growing mold and who knows what else.

Before we started carving, Carrie planned some indoor coloring activites to get the kids into the Halloween spirit.  Nick is explaining to Chatham what to do.
 Cara's placemat
Nick was so proud of his work.
 Chatham too.
Harris decided to DRAW on his pumpkin (good thinking Chris).
 Look, I have a one-eyed pumpkin.
And a random #5.  Who knows!
Carrie very carefully digging out the innards.
Devo however took the rough approach with his pumpkin.
Harris helped me get all the goo out of mine.
 Eeeew, yuck.
Carrie carved a witch.
 Mine was a ghost.
I thought it turned out well for my first time.
Funny story.  The wind started picking up as we began packing to leave, and the neighbors told us there was a tornado warning issued for Catawba County.  We lost power within a minute of walking in the door, and didn't get it back for almost 15 hours.  Not having power means no water either because we have a well.  Fortunately while the rest of Claremont was slammed, we escaped with no damage whatsoever.

Cara & Harris October 2010

I've been a really bad blogger lately.  Here are some random pictures of Cara and Harris looking cute in their Sunday clothes and Halloween shirts.  Nick refused to have his picture taken (surprise, surprise) so there aren't any of him.

Cara LOVES hats.  She would wear them all the time if I would let her.
I bought this dress for Cara when she was about 3 months old because it has little tiny Dachshunds all over it.  I have been waiting for her to get big enough to wear it.  She looks so cute!
This may be one of my favorite pictures of Cara.  She turned 20 months old the day before and let me take her picture before church.
Harris had to get his picture taken too.
He even let me take one of his boo boo.
She's not happy about whatever is going on.
Cara got to be a big girl and go out to celebrate Beth's birthday.  She enjoyed looking at the pictures.
Here's Cara's 7 month old picture wearing her Dachshund shirt and jeans.
Here she is one year later wearing the same outfit in a bigger size.
Last year for Halloween.
Posing in her Halloween shirt this year.
 Harris cheesing with his sister.
 More Halloween attire.
 Big cheese from Harris!
