Harris's Surgeries / Weekend Fun

As you know, Harris had surgery on Friday at Frye to correct his umbilical hernia and his circumcision. What a little trooper he was! Both of the surgeries ended up being more complicated than thought, but Harris did great.
Here is a before picture of his belly button. I'll show an after once all the swelling and bruising has gone away.
Hooked up to all the machines

Harris had TWO ID tags
What a lovely gown!

Check out those socks!
Poor thing fell asleep before his surgeries because he was so tired.
It took Harris longer to recover because once he found his thumb, he had no desire to wake up. By Sunday, he was crawling around and pulling up like there wasn't a thing wrong.
On Saturday, we headed out to the lake. Nick has been begging to go out in the BIG inner tube.

Harris is getting ready to ride in the gator with his brother like a big boy.
Nick was so sweet, he told me he had to go slow because his little brother was riding with him. He did a great job driving Harrison around.

Cadwallader news...

So this will probably be my longest post ever. Harris is 40 weeks and 9 months old. He had his check up on Wednesday. He's 30 inches long and weighs 21 lbs 13.5 oz. Dr. Peltzer says he's developing normally. While we were at the doctor I mentioned Harrison's herniated belly button (just like Nick's use to be). The doctor agreed that it would need to be surgically corrected, so this Friday, Harris will be having his re-circumcision done and have his herniated belly button corrected. He's so little and already having a double surgery. At least we'll get them both over and done with at the same time.

Nick is 34 months old now and the most amazing kid. When he isn't pitching his tramautic almost three fits, he's so much fun to be around. He's fearless and talks a mile a minute. We went to a pool party the other day and the first thing he does is jump off the BIG diving board without any encouragement. I know this personality trait will come to haunt me one day, but for now it's nice to see that he isn't scared to try anything new (unless it is a fruit).

More news...

Our family will be expanding to five soon. Chris and I are expecting our third child! I'm about 8 weeks pregnant and due February 2. We are very excited about the latest (and last) addition to our family. I'm also excited not to be tremendously pregnant during the summer this time around. I learned my lesson about 100 degree weather the last two times.

I had my 8 week appointment today. So far everything looks good. There is a small pocket of blood near my amniotic sac, so my doctor has scheduled another ultrasound at 12 weeks. She doesn't think that it's a big deal, but she still wants to check in another 4 weeks. There is only one baby, and the baby's heart rate is 175 bpm. I'm feeling pretty good. I've been really tired and plagued with some all day nausea, but other than that, no complaints.

You can't really tell too much from the ultrasound today because the baby is still so small, but I'll post pictures after my 12 week appointment.

Harris of course is too young to understand any of this, but we told Nick that Mommy has another baby in her tummy. At first he asked if it was Harrison and seemed a bit confused. But we explained that it was another baby. I told him in a few weeks he could come and hear the baby's heartbeat like he did with Harris. He's very excited about that. I think Nick is going to be a tremendous help this time around since he'll be 3 1/2 when this child arrives.

Please keep us in your thoughts over the upcoming months as we take one last journey into parenthood.

Father's Day

So it started out a like any typical Timmerman / Cadwallader event... madness and mayhem. Dad ran over a giant snake in the driveway, killed it, and my wonderful brother drapes it over my mailbox. Luckily, it fell to the ground before I could find it and have a heart attack.

The evening continued with DR and Nick getting into a water gun fight. I think the scales were a little unbalanced.

Both were loaded and ready to go

Harris just observed.

The chase was on

Even Chris got into it. A truce was declared a bit later.

That's when the real fun started. We found a giant frog in the yard which jumped into pool. DR attempted to toss it out only to knock the little thing out on our wall. DR then proceeds to chase my screaming and terrified son around the year with a half conscious frog. Poor Nick.

Later, I pushed my brother fully clothed in the pool. He in turn pushes his wife, Andrea, in, and both their Goldens jumped in. What a mess!

Here's Nick and Khaki jumping in.

Here are DR and Rocky jumping.
All's well that ends well. And so ends another adventure with my family.

Changes / Fun Times Outdoors

Last weekend we had a party for one of my friends who joined the 30 year club. Here are Harris, Annie and Lauren before swim time.

Harris proceeded to go through someone's things.
Here he is crawling and very excited about it.
This video was taken about a week ago. It is amazing how quick he's gotten. Now that he's on the move constantly, he isn't much into sitting still on my lap or on the floor. Nick has had a rude awakening. His toys are no longer safe.
Standing up in his bed like a big boy.
Harris is 38 weeks old. He'll celebrate his 9 month birthday next week.

Poor Nick got bitten on the nose at school this past week. You'd think by three years old the biting would have stopped.
Friday afternoon, we all went out to play and plant my mother's day garden. Yes, I know it's been over a month, but at least my tomatoes and beans are in the ground.
Harris just chilled on the grass and watched.
Nick took a more hands on approach.
He even helped water the dirt before the plants were put in.
Nick can be such a sweet and funny little kid. This week we're still singing "Jingle Bells" at night before bed, but we've changed it a little. Now the verse goes... "Jingle Bells, Nicholas Smells..."
Here's Nick showing Harris how to pour sand through his fingers.

Harris learned that you can't suck your thumb after playing in the sandbox.
We FINALLY got our play gym together. Nick loves it!

Finally it was time for bed. Harris can sit himself up in bed now. He was so tired, but he's sucking his thumb trying to stay awake for fear of missing something. A minute later he fell over still sitting partway up sound asleep.

Summer is almost here...

Harris is 37 weeks old. He learned to CRAWL this week. I haven't gotten a good video yet, but I'll blog it as soon as I do. It's still awkward, but he's getting the knee and arm movements together. Two mobile boys... I'm in trouble now!

Lauren at 41 weeks with Harris at school

Paul's been helping Chris put siding back on our house, so Lauren came over for her first dip in the pool. She LOVES the water. She and Harris enjoyed hanging out in their floats.

They spent some time in the same float too.
Even Nick had to give the whale a try.
Afterwards we threw them in the bath. Poor Lauren.
Family pictures are at church tomorrow, so I finally had to give Nick a little hair cut. Here it is that morning though. All he needs is a diaper and some weight and he could be a sumo wrestler.
