Sleeping / Bathing / Harvest Festival

We survived our first full week as parents of TWO boys. Harris is just the sweetest child. He eats well and sleeps well. Plus he loves to snuggle, which for me is a dream.
His umbilical cord fell off on Friday, so we gave him his first real bath. He likes the water but does NOT like to be cold.

Not to be left out of the swinging, Nick put my Holly Hobby doll in our old swing and pushed her for a while.

Since Nick moved to his big boy bed and has no boundaries in his room, Chris and I are never sure what kind of mess we'll awaken to in the mornings. On Thursday, I slept in and found he had smeared Hydrocortisone cream into the carpet. "Mommy, look, it's lotion!" That was fun. He's also gotten into the habit of taking out his shoes and putting them on. On Saturday, he greeted us with this footwear. At least he got them on the correct feet.

Because we were afraid Nick was feeling a little left out, Chris and I took him bowling for the first time on Saturday while mom watched Harris. He had a great time! (I forgot my camera, so these were taken with my cell phone).

Our fun Saturday ended with a trip to McDonalds for ICE CREAM.

Finally to end our week, we took the boys out to Murray's Mill for the Harvest Festival. Nick got to ride a BIG horse.

He and Daddy played in the teepee.
We petted cows and bunnies.

And we know it was a success because he fell asleep on the way home.

Brother Bonding

Nick has been doing really well so far with his new little brother. When Harris cries he runs up to him and asks, "What's wrong brother?" He also likes to help feed, bathe, and change diapers.
Here's Nick telling Harris about all the different toys on the bouncer.
Nick giving Harris a push in the swing since it's broken and we haven't replaced it yet.
Mommy's "other" baby, Chloe, who has become quite the protector.
"Oh my gosh, that's my hand!"

Harris and Big Brother Nick

Harrison Elijah Cadwallader was born on September 19, 2007. He weighed 9.0 lbs and was 21 1/4 inches long. His daddy almost missed seeing his birth because he'd gone home to feed our dogs. Luckily, he made it back about a minute and one push before his arrival. Nick is warming up to his new little brother and has even helped me change his diaper and feed him. We are so blessed to have two healthy little boys.

Growing up / Harris's Nursery / Week 39 (the last week)

Nick's school had a Trike-A-Thon to raise money for St. Jude's Hospital this week. Here he is riding. He was so excited to take his bike to school.

Sunday morning Nick had a little trouble eating his breakfast. I think he may have gotten more on his face than in his mouth.

When Nick was born, we started taking pictures of him every month because he was changing so much. We had his 2 year old pictures taken a couple weeks ago. He is looking so grown up now. I look back at how much he's changed and cannot imagine what my life would be without him.

We finally got the last few things completed on Harris's nursery since he will be arriving later this week. I think it turned out really cute.

Week 39 (the last week) -
I am having a difficult time believing that this pregnancy is almost over. I've been so lucky to have had it so easy. I'm beginning to swell in my face and hands, and of course my foot continues to look bad. Next week this time though, I'll be posting baby pictures. Please keep us in your thoughts this week as Harris makes his arrival.

Harris Update 9-10-07

Doctor's appointment today - 1 1/2 cm dialated (1/2 cm more than I was 5 days ago). 50 % effaced - she doesn't think I'll go on my on though. I'm measuring 35 cm (2 more cm than I was with Nick at 40 weeks). She's estimating he'll be at least 9 lbs. Maybe she's wrong...

Saturday Fun / Week 38

What a great time we had on Saturday!

Nick pretended he was an elephant
He floated around in the pool
Practiced jumping
Just hung out

Dug for treasure in his sandbox
And played Leap Frog with Daddy

Week 38 -
My doctor's appointment on Wednesday went well. He's still head down. Weight now is between 6 1/2 - 7 1/2 lbs (I'm betting he's more near the 7 1/2 mark), and he's about 20-21 inches long. Harris is coming SOON!!! And it's a good thing - I look ready to pop!
