Nevin Community Park

First, I'm not liking the new blogger uploading and configuring.  Maybe I'm just not tech savvy, but I'm having difficulties.

The Donley's and our family went to Nevin Community Park last weekend.  It was AMAZING!  They had and enormous playground filled with really neat swings and slides.  All the children found something age-appropriate to play on (the adults too)!

Chris and Nick took off racing around the track.  DORKS!
While Harrison slid down the twisty slide.
Cheesing with Aunt Carrie
Lookin' good Devo!
Nick pretended he was a fireman.
And Harris practiced his ropes course.
A bit of rock climbing
Carrie, Chatham, & Devin
Cara enjoyed riding the ducky
After some playground fun, we headed over to the splash park to cool off.  There weren't a lot of people there, and the kids had a blast running around in the water.
"I've almost got it!"
This is my favorite picture of the day - Nick looking so sweet.

First Library Experience - July 13, 2010

I know, it's sad that Nick is almost five years old and has never been to the Catawba County Library.  I guess being a teacher and having SO MANY books at home I never thought about taking them.  Chris had gotten the boys' library cards on afternoon when he was killing time and decided it was time to put them to use.
Nick was in awe at all the books.  He picked out several which we read as soon as we got home.
Harris was not as excited but selected some as well.  His favorite books right now are the Llama, Llama series, but we couldn't find any of those.
Cara did not care at all about being at the library.  She was way more interested in the Lego table.  In fact, we couldn't get her to leave until all the Legos she had taken out were put back in the bucket.
The library has become one of our new favorite places to visit this summer and will become even more excited as Nick learns to read in Kindergarten next year.

Our Children

My boys LOVE to play Cowboys & Indians.  I'm pretty sure Nick will scare away any enemies he finds with this outfit which he put together ALL BY HIMSELF!!!
On Sunday morning before church, I always try to take pictures of the kids dressed up.  Usually, we're running late though and no pictures are taken or if they are then they aren't good.  This Sunday though I got all THREE of them to pose and smile (a small miracle).  Chris and I are extremely blessed with such wonderful children.
All dolled up and ready for the lake.
Big Dan makes a lovely picture in his wife beater.
About a year ago, Chris and I decided to put away the train table because all Harrison did was take the track apart.  We decided he might be old enough now to play nicely with his brother (yea right!).
I'm guessing we still need to work on the whole playing nicely idea!

What's that I hear???

It's the Old Tweetsie Train!!!
My dad was out of town last weekend, so Big Mama trekked up the mountain with us to take the kiddos to Tweetsie. They were getting the train ready as soon as we got there. Harris and Cara freaked out at the noise. They still rode the train though and LOVED it!

Little Miss in her shades (she even kept them on most of the time)

For those of you who visit our blog frequently, I'll have a "special" cowboy picture of Nick in our next update.

Flash forward 16 years...

I love the smile on his face here.
